The Goal:
To develop a standalone, GSM-based IVR system that enables automated call handling, message broadcasting, and user interaction. The aim was to reduce recurring cloud telephony costs by using hardware-level control via Raspberry Pi and SIM800L.
1
The Challenge:
Ensuring stable power delivery for the SIM800L and handling DTMF input accurately using limited 2G network support. Faced integration issues with audio playback and GSM communication on Raspberry Pi under hardware constraints.
2
The Result
Successfully built a cost-effective IVR system with reliable call automation, DTMF detection, and message handling. Eliminated recurring API costs by using a local GSM module, making it ideal for scalable, offline deployments.
